Elevating Jamaica’s Youth Through Practical Workshops
At Children for Change, one of our goals is to elevate the youth of Jamaica. One way to do this is providing them with practical skills through targeted workshops. These workshops are designed to equip young people with the knowledge and abilities needed to secure employment or start their own side hustles, enabling them to earn money and support themselves and their families.
Our workshops cover a wide range of practical skills that can be turned into profitable ventures without the need for higher education. Some examples include:
- Baking: Teaching the essentials of baking, marketing, and selling homemade goods.
- Photography: Offering insights into photography techniques, equipment, and ways to monetize this skill.
- Sewing and Tailoring: Using sewing machines to create clothing, accessories, and home décor items, offering skills for custom tailoring or small-scale production.
- Barbering and Hairstyling: Techniques for cutting and styling hair, enabling participants to start their own small salons or offer home services.
- Digital Marketing: Fundamentals of social media marketing, SEO, and content creation to help local businesses or start their own ventures.
- Event Planning: Organizing events, from small parties to large gatherings, teaching logistics, coordination, and client management.
By offering these workshops, we aim to provide young Jamaicans with the tools they need to create sustainable livelihoods and achieve financial independence. Our goal is to foster a generation of skilled, empowered, and self-reliant individuals who can contribute positively to their communities.
